Atrial Fibrillation is a serious heart issue which occurs when the heart tissues witness a change or when the electrical signals undergo change and such signals determine the heartbeat.

Inside the upper right chamber of the heart, there exists a specific area which we call the sinoatrial node and inside that electrical signals emerge.

As a result of the signal, it makes the right atrium and left atrium contract.

Because of this, blood flows into the lower heart chambers (i.e. ventricles). Following this, the electrical signal goes down and makes the ventricles contract.

Everything goes well but exceptional electrical signals in the upper chambers break this specific pattern which results in the upper chambers of the heart getting contracted (irregularly) and the harmony between the upper and lower chambers of the heart is broken and the blood is not pumped effectively.

Factors Which Increase The Risk Of Atrial Fibrillation:

When we set out for atrial Fibrillation Treatment in Hyderabad, we find the following factors contributing to this:

1). Age:

As we grow older, such risk increases and those who are over 65 years should take great care of this heart aspect. In children too, this can hit but such chances are not so common.

2). Family History:

If some of our family members had suffered this in the past, there would be a higher chance for us to develop atrial fibrillation. Researchers have noticed a few genes which have mutations and this aspect makes the atrial fibrillation risk higher.

3). Factors Related to Our Lifestyle:

Dear friends, we ought to be ultra careful about our lifestyle too and some of the choices that we make, can trigger the Afib, such as:

  • Drinking alcohol in huge quantities.
  • Smoking also causes this.
  • Illicit Drug consumption such as cocaine and other street drugs.

A handful of other health conditions (which only a renowned heart specialist in Hyderabad can detect):

Some other health conditions can also make us prone to afib, such as:

  • Chronic kidney disease.
  • Diabetes.
  • Hypertension (high blood pressure).
  • Obesity (one being overweight).
  • Heart valve disease.
  • Hyperthyroidism.
  • Sick sinus syndrome.
  • Viral infections.
  • Sleep Disorders.

Besides these, certain other medicines (even those available over-the-counter meds too) and a class of stimulants too can increase the risk, especially when you suffer from other risk factors.

Race:

In the US, research indicates that atrial fibrillation is more common among the white community than people of other ethnicities such as African, Hispanic and Asian people.

No doubt, European descent can develop health issues but then we see grave complications such as stroke, heart failure or such heart issues marked by reduced flow of blood and oxygen.

Post Surgery:

Finally, this is also noticed that soon after the surgery is done on the heart, lungs or oesophagus, the risk runs high for afib. For example, when heart surgery is done to rectify some issue that prevailed since birth.

This is high time that a famous heart specialist in Hyderabad should be roped in.
