The Battle of Day One
We have created a set of systems that are causing us a mess, and so there is struggle.
We are struggling to communicate our mission, vision and narrative. We are struggling to be agile in the face of legacy decisions. We are struggling to truly understand the parameters of what modern success means.
We are struggling to find the right people that can bring us the intellectual horsepower necessary for excellence. We are struggling to implement modern tools into legacy spaces. We are struggling to create synergy between our digital worlds and our physical worlds.
We are struggling to make deep partnerships that support our work. We are struggling with the effects of poverty while often being the only social service that is functioning for kids. We are struggling with a system that has consolidated power at the top. We are struggling to have conversations about difficult things even though they’re the most significant conversations and need to happen.
We are struggling with being connected because isolation and loneliness are powerful forces. We are struggling to see how small moments could ever impact the large systems.
We struggle because they struggle.
We’ll fight because someone has to.
The war cry for the battle of day one approaches.
