Stop The Newspeak, Hillary is a Neoliberal

The fact that you claim Hillary is Progressive, by talking about how Liberal she is, highlights the fact that Hillary and her campaign are trying to hijack the English language in an Orwellian, Newspeak fashion, by limiting, as in 1984, the number of words we can use to describe differences we have on issues. Please search for some definitions in the Wikipedia.

I have never described myself as a Liberal. In the 1960’s I was an anti-war “radical.” As I grew older, I eventually chose to use the word “Progressive” because of things like learning my mother had voted for Henry Wallace (Progressive Party) in 1948. My friends who were like minded described themselves as Progressives in order to distinguish themselves from Liberals, who we saw as reformists, when the changes we wanted were much more fundamental. Hillary does not want fundamental changes, she wants moderate reforms. But, now Hillary wants the words Liberal and Progressive to become synonyms. She reacts to people saying she is not a Progressive, as if the word simply meant “Good Person.” I have family members who are Republicans, but I still love them and think they are good people. I don’t expect they will wake up tomorrow and decide to start calling themselves Progressive, because they think it is now a synonym for good person.

Hillary and the entire Clinton legacy has been focused on neoliberalism.
