Astronomy

Astronomers, painters and poets may lie by authority”
— John Harrington (1591)

After a pleasant candlelit dinner, lounging on the flowery terrace
With the sweetheart smugly seated nearby
A gentle breeze kissing the cheeks tenderly
Beauty blossoms everywhere as the Stars beacon you.

Thousands of stars in the sky you see
A shooting star streaks past by- a bolt from the blue.
A tiny speck of a dust putting up a spectacular show
Putting all those giant stars to shame!

“Astronomy compels the soul to look upwards” proclaimed Plato.
As one who has been molded by Astronomy for decades, I will add:
Astronomy shapes you to be a peddler of Joy
And then elevates you to be a Merchant of Happiness!
Astronomy teaches to be humble and proud at the same time.
It raises you to be noble and generous,
Kind and loving, caring and sharing, amiable and courteous.
Astronomy reveals the Unity of all.

Look at a guiding star, now smell a fragrant flower
“What is the connection?” you may wonder.
As things in the Universe are so interconnected, a poet has mused:
“Thou canst not stir a flower without the troubling of a star”
