Awesome post! I’m glad to see other administrators putting themselves into the seats of the students. It is a very powerful experience for all involved. In my past position as an instructional coach (I moved back into the classroom to teach AP Bio this year), I did something similar. My account is here https://ateacherontheedge.wordpress.com/2014/10/22/to-truly-reach-your-students-sometimes-you-have-to-walk-a-mile-in-their-shoes/ It is truly eyeopening to experience school through a student’s eyes. I also put all of our system’s teachers on a bus and took them on a tour of our district to help them get the full “picture” of where our students come from… and where they return every afternoon. We are a high poverty district and most had no idea of our students’ circumstances. The account of this is here if you are interested https://ateacherontheedge.wordpress.com/2014/10/12/before-you-can-meet-them-where-they-are-you-need-to-know-where-they-come-from/
