Lookism Theory: How Zack Lee Can Defeat Johan Seong

In chapter 436 of Lookism, it’s been revealed to us that Johan Seong whilst under the control of Park Jinyoung is about to fight Zack Lee, and for a while now I’ve been thinking of a way that Zack could defeat Johan since they are destined to fight.

So I wanted to talk about because I believe there are 2 previous fights that may foreshadow how the battle between Zack and Johan will go and there may also be a new ability that the author has been building Zack up to get from the very beginning of the story.

Now lets start. The 2 fights I’m referring to are Jake Kim vs. Sinu Han & Vasco vs. Eli Jang.

I noticed that both of these fights are a bit similar.

We have our heroes (Jake and Vasco) fighting against a friend (Sinu and Eli) who are under the control of the Workers albeit in different ways as Eli’s hand was forced by Eugune and Sinu was being brainwashed by a fake Yeonhui.

As the fights progress a clear gap in strength is shown between our hero and their friend.

Jake and Vasco are overwhelmed by their opponents.

At this point it seems like the battle may be over, but then the hero gains a new ability and turns the tides.

Look at Vasco unlocking the 8 Inner Gates lol.

Jake becomes able to see Sinu’s Invisible Attacks & Vasco gets the runner’s high which enhances all his techniques.

Now it wasn’t just Vasco’s strength that took down Eli, but his words as well since as Vasco was beating Eli he tells him to believe in his friends and Eli eventually gave in and stopped fighting.

Vasco technically didn’t completely beat Eli since he still had strength afterwards to fight this beast.

How’s he supposed to beat this?

I’m not trying to downplay Vasco. You could say that maybe Eli gave up because he realized that he wouldn’t stand a chance against Vasco, but I’m just trying to say that his attempts to reach Eli’s emotional side is what played a part in making him give in.

Now unlike Vasco after Jake got his new ability he stops himself from using it as he realizes he was about to attack from Sinu’s blind side, but the fight is still almost the same.

This triggers some core memories in Sinu and makes him stop fighting just like with Eli.

What a manly reunion.

So lets summarize the pattern for these 2 fights in this one short section here.

.Hero vs their friend under the Workers’ control.

.Hero gets outclassed as their friend is far too strong.

.Hero gains a new ability to even the playing field.

.Hero’s new ability + them trying to reach their friend’s emotional side = the friend willingly giving in and the hero winning the fight.

That’s generally how the fights go with each fight being a bit different in some ways of course.

So now we can apply this to Zack vs Johan.

.Hero vs their friend under the Workers’ control.

We’ve got Zack vs Johan under a rage influence by Park Jinyoung.

I’m worried for Zack.

.Hero gets outclassed as their friend is far too strong.

Now from hereon, I’ll just have to theorize as the fight hasn’t started yet, but it’s not too hard to imagine Zack getting overwhelmed by Johan of all people. This is the man who can emulate Ultra Instinct Daniel after all.

.Hero gains a new ability to even the playing field.

Now what new ability could Zack gain to to keep up with Johan? The answer is simple, invisible attacks.

As I was reading chapter 388 of Lookism I noticed that when Taesoo Ma was giving an explanation of the invisible attacks used by James Lee and Sinu Han he said something interesting.

Only those with high speed can achieve this by attacking an opponent’s “blind spots”

Regardless of Zack’s W/L record, his speed has always been a major factor in his fighting style.

You know he’s fast if Gun says so and he got even faster after that.
In most recent chapters his speed has just gotten ridiculous.

The author has continuously drawn our attention to Zack’s speed and keeps showing us that he gets faster and faster so I feel like this has to be building up to something.

So this is why I think Zack Lee will gain the stage of invisible attacks.

The copy ability is probably the most broken ability in Lookism, and it’s unlikely but the users of it can still be beaten.

I feel like an invisible attack is probably a good way to beat someone like that. An attack you can’t see just seems like the natural counter of someone who needs their sight to copy techniques. It would help Zack close the gap between him and Johan (If there is one we don’t know the full extent of Zack’s strength yet).

The next stage in the pattern is:

..Hero’s new ability + them trying to reach their friend’s emotional side = the friend willingly giving in and the hero winning the fight.

I don’t think this is too hard to imagine. Zack has been chasing after Johan for so long so there’s bound to be some type of point where Johan realizes he’s fighting his best friend after a while.

I could even see a situation where Johan’s eyesight starts failing him in the midst of the fight which causes Zack to stop fighting and try to lend him a hand.

This would definitely trigger something in Johan. It would probably make him confused, angry, and sad all at once, but he’d break free from the Park Jinyoung’s control.

This might be how the author chooses to have Zack win because it would be a bit too unbelievable for Zack to just straight-up win after a month of training considering how Johan can become as strong as Ultra Instinct Daniel, but it would also keep Zack from losing and not going back on his word.

Thank you for reading. I hope you enjoyed this.
