GZA Speaks: The Lost Art of Lyricism

Firstly GZA — I bow to you, you lyrical legend! Thank you for the music XD

On your article, I completely agree; almost all mainstream rap these days is so lyrically disappointing. It’s almost entirely the reason why I hardly listen to new stuff these days; instead I’ve slowly morphed into my parents and instead, I listen to albums almost exclusively from ‘back in my day’ e.g. from 36 Chambers thru to Black on Both Sides..

I’m hopeful though that these things are cyclical and lyricism will come back in a big way, sometime, soon. Got to keep the faith.
