Adventure is Out There!
Hi, my name is Dan and I guess you could say I’m the new guy. I’ve dabbled with this computer-stuff for years, starting as a PC gamer in middle and high school and moving into coding in fits and starts. Along the way, I’ve learned a lot. Thus far, my journey has been full of highs and lows and I have even walked away at times. Each time I left, I found myself being drawn back. I say its because of my fascination with solving problems, others may call it stubbornness. Regardless, I have decided to take a more deliberate approach moving forward, committing to my goal of becoming a developer. As part of this process, I decided to write about it, in part for my own reasons but also to help you the reader. Maybe through my journey, I might be able to inspire and guide those who come behind me. On the other hand, maybe no one will read this. Either way, buckle up because were going on an adventure!
Before we go, perhaps we should get to know each other. You could say that I am non-traditional. I’m in my late twenties with a wife and two boys. I deal with the normal parenting stuff: homework, sports practices, school events, you name it! I’m also a student, enrolled at American Military University studying software engineering. Professionally, I work as a desktop support technician for a defense contractor. When I’m not working, studying or striving (and often failing) to be the world’s best Dad, I enjoy going to the beach, watching baseball and working on cool development projects. Maybe I’m crazy for taking this journey, but there is only one way to find out!
