Hold up…this is an actual comment from ResetERA lmfao:
“Honestly? This is quite dangerous. Politics are everywhere because they NEED to be everywhere. By not putting politics, you’re pandering to those that dislike being criticised, giving them a safe zone from being told what they don’t like to hear. Hell, in his replies there’s already a dude talking that a site like this is needed “against the kotakus, polygons and waypoints”. That should tell you everything you need to know about who your main audience is going to be.”
Does this dude not realize he literally described the very place he posted this on? xD
Anyways, I’m on-board. “Politics are everywhere” is bs; what’s political changes all the time depending on where in the world you are. One person’s politics is a non-starter for another and vice-versa. Also, politics in areas outside of political circles is best done in light moderation; a bunch of randoms online don’t need to be doing a politician’s job for them, we pay their salaries already. It’s THEIR job to talk about politics all day and find out solutions for those problems, not the average citizen’s.
More than that, I think people just want a place they can hang out, chill, relax, and talk about the fun in games again and where we don’t need to be so uptight, serious, or worry about misgendering someone or whatever. Kick back and chill out, heck that’s kind of the purpose of gaming and other leisure activities. Most people don’t want to do a 9-to-5, come home, then do what’s basically even *more* work by micro-managing EVERY little thing they say just so over-sensitive people don’t misunderstand them.
Besides, why are people like this ridiculous dude I quoted worried about simply ONE website being around that doesn’t try to inject hyper-intense pop-media politics into every gaming piece existing? They’re supposed to be tolerant and appreciate diversity, right? But I guess that doesn’t extend to well-meaning websites that want to focus on the fun of games and leave out the excess of tiring (Americanized) political infusion, huh? Then assume the worst of those sites or people who’d like to check ’em out.
Go back to your safe-space, buddy.
