In Pursuit of a Meaningful Existence
Towards a meaningful future
Graduates of today essentially represent a country’s future. A future which is inclusive for all, sustainable for our only home planet, prosperous for the country and world at large and meaningful for themselves. I admit all these are really big goals in one’s lifetime. And therefore the effort to realise such a dream should be equally significant. It is that dream of a great India that all of us see every day and that our freedom fighters and earlier generations had always cherished.
In the profound words of one of the greatest leaders of our country, Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya,
A nation is a group of persons who live with ‘A Goal’, ‘An Ideal’, ‘A Mission’ and look upon a particular piece of land as the Motherland. If either of the two –The Ideal and The Motherland — is missing, then there is no nation.
So each one of you bear the responsibility of contributing to the development of our nation while pursuing your endless personal ambitions.
While you chase highest salary packages, you should also chase highest human values. While you holiday in the most exotic locations of world, also take time to explore our country’s beautifully diverse landscape. While you work hard and party even harder, also go out to do social service and do some charitable work. While you appreciate and marvel at the cleanliness of developed countries, do not indulge in littering and spoiling your own public spaces. Remember, the country by itself does not become dirty, it is the citizens which hold the responsibility. So also uphold highest civic values and habits. While you celebrate your own cultural and religious festivals, develop sensitivity and respect for festivals and occasions of other communities as well.
Let us all strive towards a meaningful future through a meaningful present.
