Family Trips: Cape May, NJ

Cape May is a beautiful family town with plenty to do for all ages!

Cape May’s beach is #7 on the Travel Channels “Top 10 US Beaches”, which says a lot. Over 30 miles of beautiful, clean beach, next to a quaint Victorian town, Cape May has been a popular beach destination since the 1900s!

The Lighthouse

Built in 1859, visitors can walk up 199 steps to get to the top of the 157-foot-high lighthouse. This lighthouse is still running today! Tours are given about it’s history and beautiful panoramic views are always waiting at the top!

Some of the best food around, Cape May boasts everything from caual seafood out on the docks, colorful bed and breakfasts, and simple diners to chandelier lit-halls. A foodies dream!

Historic District

Magnificent, Victorian mansions built in the 1900s line the streets of Cape May. Take a trip back in time while you stroll (by foot, peddling your rented beach-bike, or in a horse-drawn carriage!) down streets filled with colorful, ginger-bread-like houses!

Family Owned Businesses

Washington Street Mall has everything you could imagine; homeade salt-water taffy, jewelry, ice-cream, souvenirs, and delicious fudge! Plus all the stores are found in charming little buildings!

Cape May has plenty to do at night from Karaoke and bars with live music to quiet upscale dinners. But it doesn’t stop there! Take a tour at night to learn about Cape May’s most haunted spots around town! But be careful, you may find out your staying in one of the many haunted hotels in the area!
