Gokul Rajaram

Great words of wisdom, and wish I read this earlier in my career. I personally fell into this trap in my early twenties, making the goal to climb the ranks of PM, Director PM, VP PM before the age of 30. Looking back I realized how artificial that goal was, perhaps even dangerous. Only after did I see how foolish it was, and the urgent need to reinforce my base (foundation) before the flimsy tower of titles got too tall. I wish more heeded your message. There continues to be too many “SVPs” in the wild who lack the foundational breadth, general dynamism, and skill-set balance. This article helps advance this message, & the inevitable progression of the growth mindset winning over the title mindset.
