The Wrong Focus
Will Richardson

Nail hit squarly on the head! I am considered the “tech guru” of my middle school, which by default I am. I am the one who instead of waiting for someone to train me, went out and searched and looked for what is available and started using it in class. I’ve done PD trainings on using technology in the classroom and found the skepticism and pushback against technology is enormous. Most of my teachers either are afraid of technology, afraid they won’t use it correctly and look foolish, or don’t want to spend the effort to learn how to use it. My students love using technology and it is a help to them in doing their school work. Technology is my students language almost as much as English is their language. We need to teach in the languages that our students use.
