Did you know, that Glasnevin Museum, opened in 1832 is the world’s first cemetery Museum. It’s one of the top things to do in Dublin.

A large cemetery, located in the north Dublin,Glasnevin, it holds the graves and memorials of more that half a million people, which make it the biggest cemetery in all Dublin. Between them, several notable figures, such us:

Cathal Brugha — first President of Dáil Éireann,

Michael Cusack — founder of the Gaelic Athletic Association,

Eamon de Valera — 3rd President of Ireland and dominant Irish leader of 20th century (1959–1973) .His wife Sinéad de Valera is buried in the same plot,

James Larkin- Irish socialist leader,

Daniel O’Connell- Irish political leader in the first half of the 19th century (There is his statue on O’Connel Street in Dublin),

Charles Stewart Parnell- nationalist political leader,

James Larkin- socialist activist,

Luke Kelly- an Irish singer and folk musician a member of the band The Dubliners and is often considered Ireland’s greatest folk singer,

Brendan Francis Behan -an Irish poet, novelist, short story writer, and playwright,

Michael Collins- Irish revolutionary leader, Minister for Finance, Arms Procurement for the IRA, President of the Irish Republican Brotherhood from November 1920 until his death, and member of the Irish delegation during the Anglo-Irish Treaty negotiations,

Constance Georgine Markievicz- socialist, an Irish Sinn Féin and Fianna Fáil politician and revolutionary nationalist,

Arthur Griffith- Irish politician, founder of Sinn Féin and writer.
