Depending on who you speak to, the Greater Toronto and Hamilton Area also known as a the GTHA gets a lot or not a lot of snow. But to this Brit, it gets a bloody s***load.

But it’s still an amazing feeling to wake up, open the blinds and see a quilt of untouched whiteness everywhere you look. On the tops of the trees, suffocating cars parked on the street. It brings about such a calm stillness where all the sounds around you are muffled.

The times the snow has made this Brit look a tit

But it also has the ability to make you look like a tit. Here are some of the times when the snow did indeed make this Brit look a tit:

  1. The time I went skiing and nearly broke my leg
  2. The time I jumped over a snow bank onto a metal manhole cover and went flying
  3. The time I was locked out the house for two hours with no money and had to fashion an igloo to block the wind while my partner got home

There were also times when I had to commute to work or put the bins out in minus twenty deg

The snowy days I’ve relished

But despite having been made to look a tit quite few times now, I still don’t get bored of the snow. There have been times when I’ve not even been out in it enjoyed having it on the other side of the window pane. Here’s some of the other times I’ve relished the snow.

  1. The times it’s kept my beer cold

2. The time I’ve walked (and fished) on water

3. The times it created literal art

4. The times I’ve opened the door and been greeted with this sight. But then realizing I have nothing to do all day but play Call of Duty Warzone and drink coffee…

There are countless other times I’ve loved it and on balance, I don’t mind it at all. After five years in Canada, I still get excited around this time of year — around November — when the first snow drops and you prepare yourself for five months of it.
