That’s nothing! As an exercise I analyzed Jon Westenberg’s (largest Medium blogger in Australia, he’ll have you know) headlines, to see how many times certain words were used — especially “curse” words — and I found (if memory serves me correctly) DOZENS of articles that were posted multiple times, with some posted as many as THREE times. Like, a ridiculous number of stories posted as separate pieces, but just the exact same content (or very slight edits). Sometimes they were within days of each other.
Apparently Medium just lets people do whatever the fuck they want, as long as it attracts readers and gets those readers recommending and responding (like sycophants, might I add…oh you’re brilliant, this is amazing, best thing I’ve ever read, how are you so wise, blah blah blah). meanwhile they’re minute-long stories that amount to things like “when you really don’t want to do it, that’s when you MUST” and “I think I suck, you think you suck, but keep going” and “the hardest part of being awesome is that people hate you for it” or whatever the hell.
It’s disheartening (disclappening?) to see who “succeeds” on Medium sometimes, and with what type and/or length of content. Then amazing writers languish. I have no doubt that almost anyone who considers themselves anything close to a writer can sit down and write every day or two. Hell, brainstorm for an hour and you’ll come up with dozens of headlines for which you can write a few hundred “wise” words.
