First off, this is my favorite time of the year at Glensheen. July 1 to Labor Day Weekend.

Gardens are looking great, we have our best events, we have more tours to offer, and frankly I enjoy the heat of summer personally.

Tip #1 — Purchase tickets online for guided tours

Summer is one of our busiest seasons of the entire year and it is common to have all Full Mansion sold out early in the day. If you go online even the day before, you have a great chance of choosing most tour times of the day.

In regards to General Admission tour, those never sell out and you should fine to arrive at anytime.

Tip #2 — Take the “Summer Evening Tour”

It is the best bang for your buck and one of our best tours given all year. It is generally one of favorite tours given by our guides.

Why?

You get to see all floors of the mansion, the whole house is guided, but also parts of the grounds are guided as well. All for $30. You even get to see inside the boathouse.

Tip # 3 — Come at 9am, noon, or after 3pm. Beat the rush.

You will be able to take a general admission tour really at anytime of the day. If you desire less crowds, these tour times have remarkable less people.

Tip #4 — Friday & Saturday — Stay late for the Lake Superior Beach Club

We are the only legal place in Duluth and maybe the North Shore where you can have a legal beer or wine on the shore of Lake Superior.

Want to slow down life a little and just stare into the abyss of Lake Superior, maybe a great local craft beer. This is your place then. This will be open every Friday and Saturday from 5pm to 9pm.

Tip # 5 — Come on Wednesday night

One of the coolest events we do all year happens every Wednesday in July, Concerts on the Pier. Thanks to local sponsor, US Bank, we bring a popular local band or musician to play on our pier. People come from all over the listen to the band from the shoreline. But many others, come via the water, from sailboats to kayaks to paddle boarders.

So take a tour late in afternoon and then hang out for the concert series. This helps guarantee you parking, plus take a tour a less busy time.

Tip # 6 — Give yourself some time to relax.

The grounds are spectacular this time of the year. From the Formal Garden to the Vegetable Garden to the Tischer Creek Glen. Glensheen is built to be a place to take a seat and enjoy the natural environment around. There is a reason the Congdons threw so many parties here.
