Bajirao Mastani is beating Dilwale this weekend and why we should be happy for it!

When the first images of Gerua started rolling on Youtube, everybody just went crazy! Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol, Dilwale Dulhania is back! and everybody simply started planning their X’mas weekend. Where, When and how they are going to see this movie.
Watching a Shah Rukh Khan movie over holidays has become a ritual for entire India only change was that they had a choice this time. thats Bajiraao Mastani.
Well, to begin with Bajirao Mastani is not really a 5 star National Award worthy movie, at least not the movie as whole but yes, as far the direction and visuals are considered its just surreal. The best part is viewers, this time had a choice, a very well informed choice indeed. They could risk their 3hours worth important time on a Rohit Shetty film or on Baajirao Mastani. To begin with people went with the big star, big banner, big action and came out of cinema halls utterly disappointed. Many even left before the end of it, and that was the turning point of it all…
People who saw Baajirao Mastani were happy to have spent their money and time on the movie. They loved the direction and performances of all the actors. The movie could have been well shorter if Sanjay Leela Bhansali not forced couple of terrible unwanted songs but by end of it people had smile on their faces.
a lot of people including Shah Rukh is perhaps of the opinion that Dilwale movie tanked because of his comments or misunderstanding of what he said! well bullshit. Please see the writing on the wall Shah Rukh ! people are changing, their choices are changing. You can not film songs in front of grand CGI created backgrounds and expect people to pay for garbage. There were hardly any protests around india and all of the shows ran without any problems. Interestingly Baajirao Mastani had tough time convincing Maharashtra circuit cinema hall owners to show their movie because of the protests, and considering how big Maharashtra circuit is for movie $ collection they took a massive hit in the first weekend till the situation turned normal.
As per BoxOfficeIndia.com — the films are now head to head in India and Baajirao Mastani is all set to overtake Dilwale this weekend by 10–25 Cr. Dilwale is still better overseas but even that might change over this weekend.
As a viewer I’m happy! Shah Rukh is the same person who gave us chak De India and Swades. Please go back to what you best at that is giving us quality movies. Indian public is changing, slowly yes! but they surely are changing and picking up quality stuff over high budget garbage. I hope this will be the lessor learnt for many!
I hope next holiday season there will be a war over two better movies, one of it still of Shah Rukh where he will light a village or win us hockey world cup, not blow up SUV’s and ask us money to watch it.
Most importantly this is a message from your fans to you! they were not intolerant when they paid hefty money to watch your movie on the first weekend and were truly disappointed, they can’t become intolerant over the next weekend just because they are now making an informed choice of watching a better movie. Don’t hide behind wall of false accusation when the mistake is yours to begin with. Respect people’s opinion and make better films! heck even Salman’s movies now started to become better than they were before and yours are getting worse…
