My First Quarter Experience Studying Software Engineering.

Studying agriculture in one of Nigeria's best universities opened up my mind to see the various challenges arising in the agricultural industry (especially the issue of food insecurity in Sub-Saharan Africa). I imagined myself having something original to contribute in solving some of those challenges.
Few months into this year, I began to see reasons why I should pick up new skis and ride on the massive wave of technology. I decided to leverage on the ingenuity of technology and contribute my quota in solving emerging agricultural challenges.

I started looking out for opportunities to begin and guide my learning process. Fortunately, I came across a software engineering scholarship program sponsored by Cotta and Cush Ltd. I was very excited to put in my application. I received a mail to complete a test and I did. My joy new no bounds when I received a congratulatory mail. I was among the 22 candidates selected across 4 tertiary institutions in Nigeria for the programme.

Learning started exactly 3 months ago with a very robust curriculum. To be candid, it's been quite challenging but very interesting. I have to read up a lot of new things to provide solutions to my weekly tasks. From Math in computer science to Linux and then Algorithm and many more. Tega Philip Oghenekohwo, my mentor on the platform has been amazing. I celebrate Ibironke Yekinni and all the whole Dufuna Team. You guys are doing an awesome work.

I love what I’m learning to do and I hope to be someone celebrated for her wit and candor in the Tech. Space sometime in the nearest future.
