Challenges:
- I have never make cookies before => I have no experience in recipes and how to make cookies to form a desire shape.
- I’m clueless about how many types of cookies are there.
- Limited resources because I don’t know what I need to make cookies (in terms of ingredients and equipments)
Part 1: Analysis of existing cookies:
In general, there are 6 majors types of cookies:

Target market:
Because my cookies will be sold for a dollar each on campus, hence my target market should be aiming for college students on campus. Hence, my target market should be around 18 to 28 years old.
Questionnaires:
- Which favor do you prefer for cookies?
- Which on do you prefer more, hard cookies or soft cookies?
- Do you think the shape of the cookies (aesthetic appealing) is important for the cookies?
- In the 6 majors types of cookies, which is (are) you favorite type of cookies?
Questionnaire results:

Questionnaire analysis:
- Majority of people like to eat sweet cookies. A few love the idea of sour cookies and want to try a new favor.
- About 66% of people would prefer to eat soft cookies rather than hard cookies.
- 2/3 of people said the aesthetic appealing wouldn’t affect their decision whether they like the cookies or not.
- Majority love sugar cookies, which is in Refrigerator cookies. Some prefer Bar cookies (such as brownies).
Design brief/Design specifications:
- Sweet cookies (Or sour cookies)
- Soft cookies but not chewy
- Sugar cookies/Bar cookies
- Shape isn’t important
Part 2: Initial ideas:

Comparing ideas:

Recipe:
Idea 1: Lemonade Orea Cookies
- 1 cup of granulated sugar
- 1 cup of brown sugar
- 4 ouches of butter
- 1 egg
- 1.5 cup of all purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon of baking soda
- 2 drops of vanilla extract
- 2 drops of lemonade extract
- Oreos
Cook in 370 degree F for 15 minutes.
Idea 2: Avocado Kiwi Cookies
- 1/2 cup of brown sugar
- 2.5 cup of granulated sugar
- 2 avocado
- 2 kiwi
- 3 cups of all purpose flour
- 1 cup of baking soda
- 2 eggs
- 4 ouches of butter
Cook in 370 degree F in 20 minutes
Result and Analysis:
Idea 1: Lemonade Oreo Cookie

- The taste is too soft to smell the lemonade, hence, it couldn’t provide the sour taste as it’s purpose
- 370 degree F is too hot for the cookies, after 15 minutes, the cookies are already overcook and become quite hard to eat.
- The use of cookies sheet, which is flat, make the cookies difficult to form specific shape. After taking out from the over, the cookies are completely flat out, which required to be cut into smaller pieces.

Ideas for improvement:
- Adding more eggs to enhances the softness of the cookies and flavor.
- The use of muffin tin to creates shape and form for the cookies.
Idea 2: Avocado Kiwi Cookies:

- The soft green color presents cookies as healthy and veggies cookies
- The use of muffin tin creates a bigger volume at the bottom, however, this bottom gives unique experience, which are crunchy but not too hard or burnt.

- The 2 avocados are too much for making cookies. Avocados are known for its ability to be able to mix easily, hence, when making cookies, the 2 avocados have make the mixture become too liquid. Therefore, it’s very hard to form into a shape and take longer time bake in the oven.

- The avocado doesn’t have much taste after baking.
Ideas for improvements:
- Using only 1 avocado instead of 2 to reduce the liquidity of the baking mixture
- Coco powder can be used to improve the taste of avocado.
Final recipes:
- Lemonade oreo cookies:
- 1 cup of granulated sugar
- 2 cup of brown sugar
- 4 ouches of butter
- 2 eggs
- 1.5 cup of all purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon of baking soda
- 2 drops of lemonade extract
- 6 Oreos
Using muffin tin instead of cookies tin to create the crispy layer at the bottom.
Final results after improvements:
- Lemonade Sugar Cookies

- The cookies is softer comparing to the originals.
- More taste (crispy, chocolate, a little sour, salty)
- The taste of lemonade doesn't have a major role in here.
=> The sour favor couldn’t be made with the lemonade extract. A lemon is recommended to create a sour taste.
2. Avocado Kiwi Cookies:
- 1/2 cup of brown sugar
- 1 avocado
- 3 kiwi
- 3 cups of all purpose flour
- 1 cup of baking soda
- 2 eggs
- 4 ouches of butter
- The use of muffin tin
Results:
- The cookies have more green in them, which successfully represent it as an healthy cookies.

- The cookies form shape more easily, and require less time to be cooked. However, as a product, they are still very soft and not as hard as cookie.
- The taste of kiwi is enhanced.
