5 elements of a great headline!
The headline of your article is the most important part of your work; it is the only thing which will attract reader’s attention. No matter how great an article you’ve written, if your headline is not attractive, your work will remain under the ground.
You need to be aware of the headline you are using for your articles, to back you up I’m sharing five of the most important elements of a headline which makes it appealing to read and attracts a much larger number of readers.
№1 It should be short:
Like really? Yes! No one wants to read those articles whose titles are long as hell! Your article’s title should me as short as that it should take around 5 seconds to read. Take an example; recently I posted an article named “Why can’t you say ‘No’?”. A month before it was posted as “Do you find yourself anxious while saying ‘No’ to someone? Here is solution”, it only attracted 10 views even after a whole freaking month of posting it. And when I posted the same content after reducing its title’s length, it gained 20 views within an hour of posting it. See the difference. Example: Instead of using “Foods which have potential to improve your health if you consume it daily” as a title, use “5 super-healthy foods to consume daily!”.
№2 Try to add numbers on it:
Its a fact that people love to read content in listed form; it appears more organized and appealing to read. It will automatically make you use sub-heading and bullet numbering in your content, which will make it easy and fun to read. Also, if you write long articles, people will appreciate reading it; if it is in an organized way, it gives them liberty to pause at a particular point. Instead to writing a whole paragraph with numerous point discussing a subject, try to introduce it in listicle* fashion and mention that number on your title too! Example: Use “15 ways to make your first 100$ by blogging!” as a title instead of “Ways to make money by blogging!”.
№3 call to take action:
People love to hear from those articles whose title calls them to take action. We all are constantly trying to improve our lives by various possible means, and the only factor we are lacking is a command to do so. During our school time we are commanded by our teachers to do something and those commands are responsible for who we are now. if someone gives similar commands to improve our life, we start to like them in subtle way. Example: Instead of using “Things to do to improve your health!” As a title, use “Why are you unhealthy? lets join the fitness tribe!”.
№4 Dollar sign, we all love money:
Why am I writing this article? For popularity? Is there is any compulsion? Probably not! I am writing these articles to gain other attention and to make my appearance in writer’s community to make me able to monetize it some day. I agree that writing is my hobby and I’m doing it for fun, but there will be a day when I’ll ask myself what I gained from it. We don’t really do things only for money, that shouldn’t be the way of living, but you need to accept the fact that we do actually need money to survive. That is why we love currency symbols, whether it be Euros, Rupees, or Dollar. Currency symbols easily gain our attention. Example: Use such headline, “How I made 200$ in a single day using these tips”, instead of “Tips to earn money fast”.
№5 Start with a Question
Questions are something which forces us to introspect, which in turn allows us to address problems which ultimately result in improvement. That is why we love questions-oriented approach in order to gain something valuable. Our whole education background was based on question and answer related studies. That is why we unknowingly want to read those articles which starts with a question in order to get some solution from it! Example: Instead of using “Ways to live an adventurous life” as a title, use “Why you are living a boring life? Here is solution for you!”.
