Its Time To Bring Change
I was in my 12th when I heard about the Nirbhaya Case,that time i was not much aware about the case,i was not much interested in the case because most of the time i was busy in my tuitions and school.I belong to Jammu,J&k where the life starts in morning 6 a.m and ends in 10 or 11p.m,most of the people sleep early they don’t know and even not interested in the night life style of the states like Mumbai,Delhi,Goa where life starts after 11p.m.In short the idea of night life don’t please to Jammu people, When people were sleeping in their homes, their was a girl who was fighting for her life she was begging in front of those beasts in human flesh but those barbarians didn’t care about anything,her problem was that she was coming from late night movie show with her friend and co-incidentally her friend was boy and the good work they had done that they boarded a bus to their destination but they didn’t know that some thirsty beasts were waiting for them,that bus which they boarded was to take them to their destination but suddenly some guys started teasing them and abusing in bus.Along with those two 5 guys took advantage of the situation and started teasing them,they molested her and & hit her friend too,both girl and her friend were not in condition to get any help from anywhere it is an incident of Gang rape, the famous case that happened in Delhi where one innocent girl lost her life because of 5 people.After rape they threw them at the other side of the road from moving bus,without any clothes,her bare body was lying on the road all naked,those two were helpless the girl got serious injuries and bruises externally and internally her friend too had got some minor injuries.when morning broke, people saw them lying all naked and in pain as a result of that they filed a complaint to the nearby police station.
In our society, rape has emerged as big serious crime and those culprits who orchestrated that crime on that day were minors and adults.In 21st century when a guy finds a girl alone he thinks that its a good opportunity for him to pass lewd marks on girl,or he could impress the girl,with his over smartly tactics.Our country is in the list of developing countries but it is no longer 3rd world nation, India in now in 2nd world due to the economic growth as well as politics,we are developing rapidly but our mentality is still from stone age. People in our country are not aware about the things which are happening in our day today’s life,they seem to be least bothered about day today events, they are so absorbed in their own life that the idea of one "Pativrita" women,busy in house hold chores,a small house & children appeals their eyes & ears but truth is that ,they are unaware of what is happening in country.If we survey different parts of country one by one we will come to know that,the difference between girls and boys i.e gender based prejudices is still existing in our society,to a family their sons are apple of eye,the ones who are light to the family,who would carry their legacy onto the next generations of the family, they prefer boys over girls,and to them the only liability is to marry their daughter as the idea of "Praya Dhann" since Vedic Period is buried deep into their minds.A Mother nurtures a child & a family,we always teach our daughters to behave well in the society,we impose upon them conditions & restrictions to act good for it will get them(family) prestige,reputation & respect,but it has nothing to do with the reputation of the family.Instead we should teach our sons to respect mothers,sisters and girls.Mothers should instill their sons with good family values & ethics.Our Society is Male dominant in order to keep their "so called Nose" in the society,they prefer to oppress the women.Male members be it brother,father etc of a family have only one thing,that is to dominate female members, to suppress their voices,their desires.In indian families the discrimination on the bases of gender is still prevailing i.e boy child is always preferred over a girl child.Parents teach their daughters not to do anything that will affect their family reputation in near future,families are seen much concerned about their image due.They want to chain their daughters behind closed doors and four walls,they don’t allow their daughters to go outside and do whatever they want.
Our Indian society is confined to traditional norms & boundaries,if a girl goes outside with a boy,they begin to think that a girl who have been talking ,eating or hanging out with a boy,is nothing but disgrace or bringing bad name and shame to her family,according to them that particular girl is lacking moral values, in a conservative family system the friendship of a girl with a boy is considered taboo.The character of a girl is always measured on what she wears, i.e the length of her skirt will always dictate the length of her character and and family back ground,women have always been judged on the basis of their character.According to small minds if girls wear western outfits (Jeans,Tops) short clothes then its her clothes only, which arouse the boys and according to them western outfits are responsible for the Rapes,Eve teasing, Molestation etc.
I happened to visit local mall few days back,and a girl was wearing a short skirt and a cropped top,people were staring at her,& i was like what is wrong in that i don't find it something that could arouse an ordinary prudent man having healthy thought mechanisim and who equally respects his female counter parts..
I've come to a conclusion that if you have eyes and a healthy brain & still you cannot differentiate between what is right & what is wrong you are blind though..its not eyes that makes you wise its the vision .Yes,the vision makes everything seem good and logical...else everyone is blind without vision..
We live in a society where on one hand we worship kali,durga the female manifestation of goddess and on other hand we rape our daughters,we kill our baby girls in womb,we ostracize our daughters from the family and from the society if she marries a boy who is not from same religion or from so called caste "biradri" ,we burn our newly wedded brides in the name of dowry all we have done is suppressed them tortured them and exploited them in the name of traditions,rituals & customs and so called paramparas.I would blame not men alone ,but yes i have many valid reasons to blame our family value system,the unreasonable traditions and rituals that are meant only for women but not for men,the upbringing of our kids ,the values that we inculcate in our kids,all these things are for once needed to be reviewed & reformed for a better frame work of society.
