Thanks for sharing, Mike. I can’t say I’ve had my back go out, but I’ve definitely had (and continue to have) my share of traumas, injuries, etc. that occasionally feel crippling. Like you, I occasionally seek ‘other’ meaning behind and/or within the injury and am continually impressed with how we can dig to understand ourselves better through adversity. In fact, I believe that we learn our most valuable or powerful lessons through pain and suffering. Without getting too deep or religious, this is somewhat of a buddhist approach; that all life is suffering, and that suffering is caused by attachment (of some sort). When we hold on to old imprints, experiences, whatever — we are attached and that attachment becomes a false guide or metric against which to set expectations upon, or rather create the blockages you mention. Anyhow, just wanted to say I appreciate your story.
