Is she struggling with dementia or Alzheimers? That can be a real bear.

My problems are small compared to yours but my wife has been struggling with recurrent back issues and other health problems since giving birth to my son that required me to do majority of the work of raising pur child. My wife started to get back on her feet at which point she became pregnant again and she is basically on disability at this point because of that with even more work on my plate. I am the breadwinner, parent, husband, and homeowner all wrapped up in one. I get panic attacks too.

People wonder why I bother with little projects like the one you are doing in what tiny free time I have. I tell them, You just dont get it? When I am playing with technology then I finally feel like I have control over SOMETHING, and that helps take my mind off of what I have no control over.

Yeah my hobbies are all useful, but that is not why I do them.
