What is Slack?
We believe that Slack has done wonders for opening up communication within our team, allowing for us to be more transparent about our individual projects and client projects as well as for reaching the entire team on more personal or emotional topics. But for us, it’s not just about the tool, but how the people behind the tool are using it.
Slack is a new kind of messaging for teams, bringing all your communications together in one simple place, and integrating with tools you already use. What's different about slack is that team conversations are organized into channels. You can create your own channel, for departments, projects, certain locations, literally topic, or place that comes in mind or in relevance to what you want to communicate.
Slack founded by Stewart Butterfield, slack started functioning at the end of 2012, and by March 2013, Stewart and his team had enough to work with that they were using the product themselves. Even knowing they representing just one team. by May of that year, they were ready for more users.
It has made collaboration and communication more transparent, user friendly, and efficient, from messaging your colleagues as team, to private messaging by creating your own private channel, sharing files, images, PDFs, or praises, the messaging is endless. Everything you post on slack is searchable, from messages, notifications, files, and even content within those files.
With Slack, you can plug-in any of the tools and services you already use and have notifications from those systems appear in whatever channels you choose. You can view Slack via desktop or mobile device at whatever convenience applies to you.
