History lessons with Idris

When I was in Ethiopia I met Idris. He’s a high school History teacher for grades 11 and 12. We met at a local restaurant in his town en route to the airport on our last day. Afterwards he took us to the school where he teaches (pictured).

Idris is married. He has children. He uses the Bajaj (the three wheel, covered motorcycle, taxi service) to get around.

Idris met Christian Horizons early in his life. He says there is no doubt in his mind that he would be doing what he does today if it were not for the help of Christian Horizons. And all we did was help him access education that was accessible to him as a blind man.

Our vision is, people with exceptional needs belong to communities in which their God-given gifts are valued and respected. Maybe one day, Idris’ history lessons will include how this used to be a dream, but it has become a reality for the 98% of kids with disabilities in Ethiopia who were not able to go to school.

You can help.
