Coffee Roasting — First Attempt
As you might recall from my earlier post, Coffee Roasting — A New Hobby for a New Year, I received this home coffee bean roaster and bag of green coffee beans for Christmas. The colander we already had. I just learned this morning from watching the video you see captured on my tablet that I would need it for the cooling portion of the roasting process.
I watched two videos, the only two I could find that used the particular make of roaster I received, on how to go about turning green coffee beans into roasted coffee beans. They were both informative and, between the two of them, I felt ready to begin.
I began by measuring out a small amount of green coffee beans in the cup provided with the roaster. Both of the video hosts measure their beans using the metric system and a digital scale. I went with the “that looks like enough for a first try” system. The beans weren’t at all green. They reminded me of tiny, dry-roasted peanuts.
