VA troubles expanded at an exponential rate with him at the head of the VA house oversight committee. He got his congressional seat by lying to his constituents and claiming to be independent while all through his career made it clear that he always supports the democrats. What is the difference between a card carrying member of a political party and someone who always supports that same party? The card carrier can be considered to be more honest. I think you confuse the protection of civil rights/liberties with government bullying. I agree that Johnson and Sanders differ when it comes to world view and the USA’s place in the world. Bernie constantly has supported expansion of the military industrial complex, expanded spending for on going conflicts, expansion of conflicts into more and more regions, and all while giving lip service to being against the ‘elite’.
