Scary Delivery Places Near S.F.
At first, when I noticed the paper door knob hanger on the entry to my apartment (the one I heard the delivery guy, delivering to my neighbor upstairs, put on), I thought “Oh, cool! There’s a new place that delivers to Pacifca!” There’s only a few restaurants that deliver in the surrounding area so I was quick to be optimistic, but soon I realized it was all for naught…

There’s nothing more I love than reviews; no matter if advertisements, friends, or family recommend something I always consult others’ feedback online or otherwise. So I quickly went Yelp to see if I could find China Cafe, but nothing came up. “Hmm…” I thought, “that’s definitely not a good sign.” Almost every restaurant in California, especially ones in San Francisco have reviews, good or bad. But, to not even be in search results is strange…
Next logical step for me was to Google the address to see what I could find. The results came back with 3 other restaurants at this location, according to Yelp! Super suspicious. Obviously, I had to see what was going on.
The restaurant went under the name of Golden Wok, China Hut, and Chef Ming along with the unknown one China Cafe. Yelp reviews were horrendous and beyond that came with warnings on some like:
Consumer Alert: Poor Food Safety Score!
I mean sure, Yelp reviews and food safety scores are one thing, but then I saw the pictures of some of the Yelpers…

Every one of the restaurants had crazy, possibly life-threatening issues! I had to see where this restaurant was at, how bad could it possible be…
Holy moley. The place doesn’t even advertise its name (probably for a good reason), but the phone number is the same as Chef Ming’s so I know for a fact that this is the place. How could such an innocent thing as having a new place to get delivery from, end up as something that could lead to serious injuries!? To me the moral of the story is to always check the reviews, not just to see if something is good, but to make sure it’s safe too!
