Jake Sullivan is a Dangerous Man

Okay, he’s not Trump; he’s not a Republican in Congress. Those people are more dangerous. They are direct threats to American democracy, but Jake Sullivan is the greatest indirect threat. Biden seems to listen to him, and he seems to be the source of the failed policy on combatting Russian imperialism.

In a recent interview…

“I believe Russia is putting on a braver face about how well they are weathering all of this than reality suggests. The coalescing conventional wisdom in the West is, ‘Oh, this is all just fine for Russia.’ I don’t think it is just fine. (Russia is) bleeding men, bleeding money. They are driving growth, but that growth is entirely in the production of armaments to send to Ukraine to gain no material territory on the battlefield. So the pressures of occupation of a foreign land that does not want you there are real, and they only grow over time.”

I don’t disagree with anything he said. Russia is worse off than it portrays to the world, and things are getting worse. Russia cannot maintain this forever and will collapse from within if they try. The ‘growth’ in the economy, if it is even real, is all waste — there is no benefit to the state from producing weapons that will never offer a return on investment. The invasion of Ukraine will never pay for itself.

But so what?
