Everything is on the line for teams this week; this is their final chance to tally on another win before the playoff brackets are made. But be warned, the middle of the pack teams refuse to go down without a fight. Matches with serious stakes in terms of playoff seeding includes Baltimore versus Buffalo, Chicago versus Maui, and Jersey versus Washington.

At this point of the season, contending teams are in peak form as they have now had over two months to build team chemistry. This is the final hoorah before the best part of the season approaches; the United Rogue playoffs.

With surprising risers in both team and player rankings, this article will not disappoint. Here are your week nine power rankings!

There are several different writers in this article. Please keep this in mind as they may have differing opinions or different styles of writing.

9. Los Angeles Griffins (5 points)

(Last Week: #9)

The Los Angeles Griffins have chalked their season, eliminating them from playoff contention.

8. Houston Flames (10 points)

(Last Week: #8)

Houston will be finishing in eighth in standings after a tough loss to Chicago. The squad that was put together after the draft has had some unfortunate turn of events this season. Numerous 3v4s, forfeits and many other reasons have accounted for this team’s down fall. It is truly unfortunate to see this team fall apart. With such a talented player like Ezra, one can expect great things from his team. He provides the veteran-ship and leadership every team needs. The team will be playing Jersey in the first round and will need a miracle to save their season if they want to make an underdog run in playoffs.

7. Washington Rebellion (17 points)

(Last Week: #6)

Where do we begin with the Washington Rebellion? After a successful early run in the first half of the season, being one of the first teams to 40 points, they have not won since. To their credit, they gave Utah a good run for the money despite being swept. They lost the hardpoint by only 24 points, and the search and destroy by only one round.

Headed into playoffs, the Rebellion’s best case scenario would be to have their revenge match against Utah. However, if Maui beats Chicago, there is a chance they play Baltimore in the first round of the playoffs. While it seems next to impossible, Washington MUST upset Jersey this week or Icee’s quest for a third ring will end soon.

6. Chicago Syndicate (18 points)

(Last Week: #7)

Jumping to the number six spot, the Chicago Syndicate have seemingly beaten all odds to go from the undisputed worst team to the gatekeepers of mediocrity after beating Houston 3–1. This team has definitely improved, and top three pick, BigDog, has finally showed up to play.

Winning three straight has shot their stock up higher, but you still have to look at the teams they’ve played to this point. A struggling WAR team, a FF win from LAG, and clearly the worst active team in HOU. Not the most impressive of wins, but wins are wins regardless.

It’s too early to jump on the CHI bandwagon and with a tough match against Maui incoming, things could go south quickly. But if the bracket falls in their favor, this team could easily make a decent run to finish 6th or 7th in the playoffs.

5. Maui Ancients (25 points)

(Last Week: #4)

With playoffs right around the corner, these next two weeks are crucial for teams. Maui is sixth currently in the standings and will stay there after another 2–3 loss to Baltimore. This is the second week in a row where they have lost in map five. They are currently 1–2 when it comes to map fives, as they have only beat the winless LAG (who is no longer a team).

Maui has an extremely stacked roster with the talents of Aggy, Bar, and Ex. However, they have lost their silver Hades after some personal reasons . As a result, this does put a huge dent in this roster. They decided to pick up veteran AJ to fill the role which is a solid pick up. If this team wants to make a playoff run, they are going to have to start practicing and also display some ice in clutching those map fives.

4. Utah Craze (30 points)

(Last Week: #5)

Here we are, right where we started the season. A team that looks very solid on paper but a team that doesn’t look strong enough to take down the top dogs in Buffalo and Jersey. This teams success is going to truly rely on Cambot42 playing like he did early in the season, as well as Davey putting in his all to take down these top teams. With Shankz being a consistently solid player and Faded being a contender for top silver in the league, this team is looking hot coming into the playoffs. Will they rise to the top and dethrone the top teams, or will they succumb to their early season doubters and sit as a middle of the pack team?

3. Buffalo Bolts (36 points)

(Last Week: #3)

To the surprise of nobody, Buffalo comes in at number three in the power rankings. While they did take a win against JER, it was by FF so not much can be said about how that would have played out. Many UR COD fans were upset to have missed what could have been a teaser of the likely JER v BUF finals matchup.

Kiki and Darkrai have looked like an outstanding duo this season, but the surprise impact of Waw has really been a difference maker in their past matches. If this team can keep firing on all cylinders, they should be able to make a deep run. Any team that has a player with four straight finals appearances and another player with two straight is bound to be scary. Everyone should fully expect this team to be in the finals this coming season. Not very much else to be said about this star studded roster.

2. Baltimore Kraken (39 points)

(Last Week: #2)

After a 3–2 win, the number two ranked squad is the Baltimore Kraken who have been KRAKED out. Or have they? Sure, they’ve been winning, but they haven’t been dominating the way that BUF or JER has been dominating. This team has the talent across the board, but the dedication is the question.

When Spade is wanting to win, this team dominates and it frees up Chelzee33 and T3X. When Spade doesn’t play at his best, this team struggles to pull out wins. T3X has started to show his season five self and Chelzee is looking as great as ever with the gunny. It all falls onto the third head of this metaphorical hydra.

Regardless of the close matches, wins are wins, and they have played relatively well in the grand scheme of things. This team is clearly a top three team and will almost certainly be in a finals. Whether that be winners, losers, or grand finals remains to be seen.

1. Jersey Jackals (45 points)

(Last Week: #1)

Jersey. Number. One. Those words have been synonymous with each other for the entirety of the season. The undisputed kings (and queen) of the regular season, this Jersey squad found their first loss of the season by forfeit due to scheduling issues. This is no cause to even have the slightest of doubts about who the clear cut favorites to win it all are.

This squad rivals some of the best teams in UR history like the Season Three Houston Flames Alpha Team and Season Four’s post-roster lock Chicago Syndicate. It’s funny that the team that has been historically a bottom team since season three has turned it around to become the top, while the other top teams from the early eras have fallen by the wayside. If Jersey can win it all, and it seems likely, this season will be a storybook for the new kids on the block. Base, Kemani, Revive, Vynoh, and Zeloxcitys. Remember these names heading into playoffs. They are ready to WIN NOW.

Player Rankings have changed to weekly performances, instead of overall season performances. Players who did not play this week will not be included*

  • Utah Galore? Three players on the Craze roster crack the top ten this week after sweeping Washington 3–0 last week.
  • BigDog makes his first appearance at #1 after a heroic performance against Ezra and the Houston Flames.
  • The Spade, T3x, and Chelzee33 trio continues their dominance as one of the league’s best pairings.

The Standout Player of the Week: Shankz

Shankz saves the round on Tuscan SND
Shankz gets a three piece on Bocage Hardpoint

It felt like it was only right to give the award to Shankz this week. After not having a single top ten appearance all season, he finally comes in this week at #3. After carrying the team with an incredible 86/47 (1.83 KD) statline versus Washington, it is clear to see why Shankz’ heroics were key to sweeping Washington this week. This win solidifies Utah status as the number four seed this playoffs, guaranteeing their home-team advantage during the map vetoes process. Have yourself a day, Mr. Shankz.
