Bernie’s disappointing shift towards endorsing Hillary

I like many other Bernie supporters are disappointed in Bernie the past few days. After numerous reports that Bernie is preparing to rally with HRC on Tuesday, July 12, Sanders posted on multiple social network sites that the Democrat Party has created the most “progressive platform in history.” While this is true, it is still corporate progressivism, and with Sanders getting ready to endorse Hillary, it leaves progressives like myself confused as we are losing our biggest voice.

Bernie’s entire campaign was about going against Corporate Democrats and fighting the establishment’s corporate agenda. He made a lot of us proud throughout his campaign. Despite making us proud, most Bernie supporters were/are outraged by how the Democrat Party basically sabotaged his campaign. Whether it was purging Democratic voters that were part of Bernie supporters’s demographics or voting machines that did not let you select Bernie, the Democrat Party showed us that it is far from democratic (this is why I do not call it the DemocratIC Party.)

The campaign Bernie ran was about changing the Democrat Party into a party of the people and not corporations, and making government more transparent. He effectively drew comparisons between his and Hillary’s record, and caused many to fall into the “Bernie or Bust” movement.

Hillary Clinton is everything that Bernie and his supporters were fighting against. Many Bernie supporters find themselves unable to support HRC for this reason. But if Bernie was basically sabotaged by the DNC and fought against people like Hillary, why is he getting ready to endorse Hillary?

I don’t know. That is the simple answer. If I had to guess, he wants to have a good reputation within the Democrat Party and fight against Donald Trump. I am sure he is well aware his supporters will be devastated, including me, but I guess he really feels Trump is more dangerous than someone who takes corporate money.

It is really disappointing that Bernie will get off message and support Hillary. But I guess it is the “right” thing to do. I will not feel as strongly towards the Senator, but I will forever remember and respect his great movement.
