Entitlement.
Way too many people think that they deserve something these days. They think that they are so special, that the world should just bend over backwards and hand them everything they ever wanted. I see time and time again people talk about how they’re going to make millions one day. How they’re going to buy their family homes, provide spectacular lives for their children and leave a legacy. The fact is that this isn’t practical. It’s unrealistic, yet people continue feeding themselves these ideas.
Look, I’m all for shooting for the stars, speaking it into existence and all that. I really am. But you still have to be realistic about it. If you look at the top 1% of earners in the United States, they can make as little as $400,000 a year. I know, that’s still an insane amount of money, but what I’m trying to say is that people are fooling themselves thinking that they can all be millionaires.
I mainly see this coming from people on social media. They’ll highlight their struggles and adversities as reasons why they deserve to live this lifestyle. Like the hardships they faced make them entitled to it or something. I’m sick of it. I’m sick of everyone acting like their hardship is worse than another’s or that they’re the only one who went through something. Obviously there are worse scenarios than others, but at the end of the day, we all go through things and you never know what’s going on behind closed doors.
Some of these people will go onto be millionaires some day, it’s just the way the world works. But, at the same time, it will go to those who work for it. No one becomes successful by sitting around and wishing. They become successful by doing. The entitlement that is being spread is unreal to me. It doesn’t even have to be these huge, lofty goals either. It can be as simple as providing a stable life for them and their families. They want it fast and easy rather than taking the long, hard road to financial freedom. These are the people that you’ll see doing pyramid schemes, trying to convince their friends that they’re onto the next big thing. This has been a huge thing I’m seeing lately.
People will post up a status or something claiming that they can help generate a profit by selling a service or product. They then have to convince their friends to sell it as well, getting a portion of their profits. The chain continues, all the while someone else is benefitting off of you and your friends. You’re in a perpetual cycle, never gaining enough to be financially free, just enough to keep going. I don’t understand why anyone would do this. If you see someone in the same spot, year after year, as they promote new service after new service, why follow that? Why not get out there and try to generate a legitimate profit? These people feel like they deserve to make it, that this will get them there, but it doesn’t. So then they bitch and moan about how hard life is, but that one day they’ll make it. It’s BS and I know it, you know it and they know it. Still, they want to sell this idea of success to the world so that they look cool.
The idea of looking like you’re hustling and grinding is more attractive than the actual hustle and grind. That’s why so few people actually achieve any real levels of success. They think they’re entitled to greatness and when that greatness doesn’t come, they give up. They shut down. They blame the world. Instead, what they should do is reevaluate what’s going on around them. Look at where they place their time and energy. When it doesn’t align with your end goals or bring in money, substitute it with something that does. Stop thinking that the world owes you anything, because it doesn’t and that mentality will get you nowhere.
