Do you remember that locomotion horror game that featured a demonic train with spider-like appendages? Yeah, of course you do. In October of 2021, Choo-Choo Charles was announced by single-man developer, Two Star Games, to an eruption of praise. Enamored by the grotesque and inspired amalgam of ideas, press sites all quickly circulated news coverage of the game, inspiring a surge of support and fans that were ravenous for the release in Q1 of 2022. Well, unfortunately — Choo-Choo Charles has been delayed until at least “mid-late 2022.” Insert Miyamoto quote here.

News comes by way of a dev update by Two Star games, uploaded to their very own Youtube channel. In the diary, Gavin explains that the title is about halfway finished, as the scope for the game continues to expand. Gavin goes on to state that he initially knew his Q1 2022 release date was ambitious at best, even when he announced it, and says that he is now planning to have two or three months following the games “completion” for additional work and tooling.

“I think I’m going to release it this year, but I’m very hesitant to confirm anything,” Gavin candidly states.

To preface the delay announcement, Gavin’s Youtube video gave us a very candid look at his behind the scenes process designing and programming a horde of cult members who worship Charles; even going so far as to feed outsiders to the demonic train. Previously, Charles was the only enemy in the game, so the expansion for other enemies and subsequently, new missions, came from fan requests and feedback within Gavin’s own Youtube comment section. It’s this level of connection that Gavin has fostered with the growing “Charles” community that has also garnered an intense level of understanding and support, as the solo developer was met with nothing but love following his announcement. Again, Miyamoto quote. But if you too are addicted to every update video of Choo-Choo Charles, be sure to give Gavin a sub over on his Youtube channel while we wait.
