Dymension 35-C

The time has come to move the app-chain thesis into a new dimension. Welcome to Dymension 35-C!

Overview

Dymension’s first non-incentivized public testnet 35-C will host a variety of RollApps to begin testing the modular chain thesis. At first the Dymension Hub, a proof-of-stake blockchain, will be deployed with a distributed set of validator node operators. These validators will utilize Tendermint to co-ordinate amongst each other for consensus and networking.

Deployment of the first RollApp will be completed shortly after the Dymension Hub genesis event. RollApp deployment in Dymension’s 35-C testnet is permissioned and initially restricted to the Dymension core team. This is intended to monitor the performance, sustainability, and durability of the modular chain thesis prior to allowing the community to deploy their own RollApp.

Community members with the RollApp💈Fam role on Discord will be able to deploy their own RollApp on the incentivized testnet scheduled for Q2 of this year. What to expect for 35-C

Dymension Hub will be deployed with a distributed set of professional validators. The Dymension core team greatly values the work and efforts of node operators, so validators that bootstrap the existing network will be first in-line to operate validator nodes in the incentivized testnet.

The Dymension Hub is a bridging hub for modular blockchains also known as RollApps. Users will be able to utilize Dymension’s discord faucet to request tokens for both the Dymension Hub and RollApps to be deployed.

Dymension’s core team values a good user experience thus we’ve built a web application to get a taste of what is possible (but this is just a taste, much bigger development tasks are in progress and will be available for the incentivized testnet).

The first RollApp to be deployed will be called RollApp X. This simple name exemplifies the simple but extraordinary task of this first RollApp. RollApp X is its own app-chain with a dedicated sequencer full node that utilizes Celestia’s Mocha testnet for data publication and the Dymension Hub as the source of truth.

Users will be able to IBC transfer tokens from the Dymension Hub to RollApp X. This is the first IBC-enabled modular blockchain. Historically, IBC has been used as a protocol to pass messages between monolithic app-chains, that changes with IBC-enabled RollApps. As the source of truth for the RollApp ecosystem IBC relayers look at the Dymension Hub for confirmation when users want to bridge assets.

On RollApp X, users will be able to stake the native asset of RollApp X and receive mint rewards. Please note that these rewards do not count to incentivized testnet participation.

But that’s not all…

After network stabilization Dymension’s core team will deploy at least two more RollApps.

• EVM RollApp: users will be able to experience an ultra-low latent blockchain with familiar Solidity smart contracts
• CosmWasm RollApp: users will be able to deploy powerful CosmWasm smart contracts

Some special surprises are in store for those deployments. After the initial launch, Dymension will begin integrating external features of Cosmos zones via IBC. Dymension is entirely IBC-enabled and Dymension’s core team firmly believes that the growth of the modular blockchain ecosystem will benefit from the stability and security of the IBC protocol.
