I happen to enjoy eating yogurt for breakfast because I cannot eat breakfast early in the morning other than yogurt. Yes, that makes me one of those weirdos who would rather skip breakfast than to force something down. But, with yogurt bowls, there is no forcing and its super healthy and it makes my family happy, which is the best part, of course.

Don’t get me wrong, I love breakfast foods like pancakes, eggs, grits, oatmeal, and the like. I just have to force myself to eat it when I wake up so early in the morning. This recipe for the yogurt breakfast bowl is quick, easy, customizable, and of course easy to eat in the early mornings.

All you need is yogurt, fruit, and some crunch. Here are some ideas for customizing your bowls.

Fruit

Pineapples, mangoes, strawberries, blueberries, bananas, peaches, kiwis, raspberries, blackberries, orange, grapefruit, apples, pears, persimmons, and so many other fruits. Really you can add any of your favorite fruit to this bowl whether fresh or dried.

Yogurt

I prefer flavored Greek yogurts to bring out a more fruity flavor when eating but a lot of people also choose plain or vanilla yogurt. You can make this recipe with Greek, whipped, regular, or your favorite nut or soy yogurt.

Crunch

For a nice texture, change add some granola, toasted coconut, and your favorite nuts or seeds. Some seeds I like to add are chia, pumpkin, and unsalted sunflower seeds.

Let’s not forget our extras! You can add honey, nut butter, spices (cinnamon, nutmeg, cardamom, and more), and maple syrup. Sometimes I like to get really creative in the extras that I add.

Anyways, here is my favorite combination. Also, you should know that I measure the amounts with my heart and so should you!

Mangoes

Pineapples

Strawberries

Bananas

Directions:

  1. Add yogurt to a bowl. On top of yogurt place all other ingredients. If you are using spices. Sprinkle spice evenly across the top.
