An Interview with DYNO’s Head of Blockchain Operations, Felix Grund
DYNO is a blockchain-based marketplace for fitness and metabolic data. The DYNO platform serves as an extension to the breakthrough DYNOSTICS device, the most advanced fitness and metabolic analysis device on the market. The device already counts thousands of users in over 26 countries.
To gain a better understanding of DYNO and its future plans, we sat down with DYNO’s Chief Marketing Officer (CMO) and Head of Blockchain Operations, Felix Grund.
Felix gave us a glimpse into DYNO’s future, its strategic outlook and the technology that powers its breakthrough device
Can you explain how the DYNOSTICS device works?
We designed a mobile-first system, capable of analyzing fitness and metabolic data with extreme efficiency, at a fraction of the cost of existing methods. Our device, a breathing mask loaded with a number of cutting-edge sensors can determine a user’s fitness and metabolic in a few minutes by analyzing the gases they inhale & exhale.
During a typical DYNOSTICS Nutrition test, users will breath into the mask for 5 minutes. Our proprietary algorithm then interprets and analyzes the data. When users get their results back on the DYNOSTICS app, they can see the amount of calories, carbohydrates, proteins, their body consumes in a day. Subsequently, the DYNOSTICS App suggests specific meals, foods, and training routines to help users achieve their fitness goals more efficiently.
During the DYNOSTICS Performance test, users undergo a 15–25 minute stress test on a treadmill or a bike. The user will be able to know in which pulse ranges they burn the most fat, when they increase performance, and when their muscles in the anaerobic area over-acidify. This kind of information is extremely important for anyone who wants to train properly. For example, someone could be doing a certain type of exercise to burn fat but they’re actually burning a majority of carbohydrates.
In the near future, users will be able to connect their fitness trackers to the DYNOSTICS app to build an even more complete health profile.
More Data, Better Workouts
What does DYNOSTICS do with the data it gathers?
We market the device to fitness trainers, gyms, nutrition coaches. At the moment, the data is used to build custom training schedules. Through the DYNO platform, our users will be able to monetize their data by sharing with institutions, companies, and research labs, in exchange for DYNO Tokens. I would like to note that all user data remains anonymous throughout the entire transaction process.
There is a Vast Market for Fitness & Metabolic Data Testing
What is the potential market for DYNOSTICS?
The target market for DYNO and DYNOSTICS is massive. There are about 180,000 gyms worldwide, 15,000 personal trainers, and about 90,000 sports clubs. Furthermore, the fitness industry generates around $81 billion in revenue and is expected to grow by 25%, by 2020.
How much growth are DYNOSTICS & DYNO expecting over the coming years?
At the moment, it’s hard to assess the potential impact of the Blockchain aspect of our business. We will soon have performed over 250,000 DYNOSTICS tests. In the next few years, we expect to perform over 3.2 million data tests. If we charge just a small amount for data tests, our revenue could easily reach $120 million by 2021.
Users are Always in Control of their Metabolic Information
Would pharmaceutical companies, for instance, be able to utilize data available on the DYNO Platform?
Of course! Companies can go to the marketplace and purchase data from users. Our users have a complete control over how and with whom they decide to share their data. A lot of institutions and companies will be interested in this kind of data.
The major problem with this kind of data today is that an average data profile costs between $38-$250, depending on how much data is available. Researches still struggle to find complete and verifiable data profiles. With DYNOSTICS, these individuals and institutions will be able to buy incredibly complete data sets and reward individuals directly, instead of buying it through a third-party.
