Being a WW2 buff, I should say that blitzkrieg strategy was not dependent on the despair of the other party. It was a solid war tactic that involved, as a second stage, cutting off enemy’s communication lines and encircling pockets of troops now starving for ammunition. In case of Normandy, the Nazis had no resources to carry that through because their best troops have been either engaged of ground to dust on the Eastern front by the Soviet Union.

Other than that, I find that the points made quite valid.
