GINO MCKOY IS POISED TO EXPLODE ON THE SCENE WITH NEW MUSIC AND A FEATURE FILM COMING OUT
McKoy Is An All-Around Talent, Writer, Singer, Producer, Director
Gino McKoy is one of those rare talents who seems to be able to do it all, and do everything well. The singer-songwriter, musician, screenwriter, producer and director has just released new music and a video that is already going viral in some countries, and he has a new movie, a sci-fi horror story, “Lumina,” hitting theaters across the country soon in a wide release. He is poised to explode on the scene in the United States in a very big way.
McKoy was born in Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago and moved to Canada with his family at an early age. His family ties are very important to him and he credits their support and advice for helping him get to where he is today. They recognized his talents at a very early age and encouraged his development. McKoy burst onto the international scene back in 2006 in front of a worldwide audience with his very first original composition playing at the FIFA World Cup in Germany. Since then, he has continued to work on his craft and has teamed up with some of the biggest names in both music and film.
That musical debut on a world stage at a young age, is par for the course for McKoy, who does not do anything on a small scale. His debut film, “Lumina,” which he wrote, produced and directed, will be released on more than 2500 screens across North America. It is being distributed by major distributor Entertainment Studios Motion Pictures/Freestyle Releasing. The movie’s soundtrack will feature several songs written and performed by McKoy. One of those song’s, the first released, including with a music video, “Sensy Girl,” was produced by top music producer, David Kershenbaum, with McKoy, and was mixed by multiple Grammy Award-winning Mick Guzauski.
McKoy is not playing around. His abilities are reminiscent of some of the old-school all-around talents, who seemed to do it all. Few people have been able to do what McKoy is doing, not only just within music or film, but to be able to cross over and be successful in both. The list of those who have accomplished that feat is very small.
More than super talented, McKoy also has a big heart. He founded a charity, Kinder Krisis, which exists to help women and children escape poverty and bad situations. He has chosen to donate 20% of all merchandising revenue from “Sensy Girl” to the charity.
Giving back is important to me. It is a core value I learned from my parents and something I learned watching my Mom volunteer so much when I was younger. One of our family mottos is God put us here, to not only to help yourself, but to help others. So I feel I have an obligation to use my success to lift others as well.
