John Hopkins, my comment was not at all an intellectual dissection but more of a general statement of incredulity. I’ve seen some serious bullying of female writers on here. Some is subtle but unmistakable. I don’t understand why this is. Seriously. The writer I responded to is a person I admire and respect so I take it seriously when she writes a piece about blocking someone.

I don’t typically write about feminist issues because I’m hilariously ignorant on the subject. One important thing I have noticed is that male commenters often mistake very legitimate class issues for “sexism against men” and thence attack feminist articles. For example, “Middle aged men are experiencing increased instances of alcoholism and suicide”. This is an extremely important issue to me. I take it dead seriously. However, I do not attribute it to some kind of side effect of feminism. It is an issue of class oppression pure and simple. Tangling up this important issue with feminist issues (which also can have roots in class oppression) is counterproductive. It can and does ultimately separate those who would otherwise be natural allies.

These are just some off the cuff thoughts, but have been on my mind a lot lately. I don’t know if you are the person who got blocked, but you wrote a response to me so here I am.
