Ford Escape Toronto comes in no less than three engine choices. But a six-speed automatic transmission and front-wheel-drive are standard across all the trims. Only SE and Titanium are available with AWD option.

A 2.5L four-cylinder engine with 168 hp and 170 pound-feet torque is standard on S trim. It is also available as a cost effective option on SE trim. It is available only with FWD.

A turbocharged 1.6L inline-4 engine with 178 hp and 184 lb-ft of torque is standard engine for SE and Titanium. It is quicker and more efficient than the base engines of other crossover SUVs. On speed testing, an Escape with 1.6L engine took only 8.7 seconds in accelerating to 60 mph. Its economy is also impressive. It is 26 mpg combined with FWD and 25 mpg combined with AWD.

Finally there is another turbocharged engine for Escape SE and Titanium. It is an optional 2L inline-4 engine. Its horse power is 240 and the torque it builds is 270 lb-ft.
