EDC: Demon Auction

Background

Easy Demons Club brand was started back in 2017 and has consistently shown our creations through our art, our apparels, our art toys, and now our NFT project. EDC has traversed the physical space and now we set our vision towards thriving in web3. Together with you, we’ve been building something that has exceeded all our expectations: a strong community and loyal club members.

Now, we are ready and proud to announce our minting details. A never before seen method with a risk only a true Demon is willing to take. We present to you: The Demon Auction.

The Demon Auction: Explained

Many Dutch Auctions are seen, despite the benefits, as cash-grab efforts to get people to mint as high as possible. While the sentiment has merit after some obvious schemes, some of the newer efforts seem to fix that. For example, the Fair Dutch Auction (FDA) set by some newer projects where they refunded the participants who minted at higher price was regarded positively by the space and inspired us here in EDC. While we think FDAs is the only way to do Dutch Auctions, we also wanted to push that one step further, therefore we came up with our own Demon Auction which is a Fair Dutch Auction where we set our final lowest price to 0. Yes, you read that right. ZERO.

The auction will start at 0.6 ETH and the price will decrease 0.05 ETH every 30 minutes until it reaches 0 ETH where you can mint for FREE (save for gas) for 30 minutes before the auction ends. We think it’s only fair for us to be able to set a price where we see ourselves being valued at, while also being brave enough to set the lowest of the low price for free. If one person buys it at 0, we will refund everyone’s ETH back and the DemonListed will have their NFTs for free too!

But Why?

Since the beginning of this project, we had this idea to use 666 (obviously) as “the number” for EDC. You will / have seen it a lot in our project like 6,666 supply, announcements on 6,666 followers and so on and so forth. As for pricing, one of the partners have this crazy idea of doing a Dutch Auction that starts from 0.6 ETH down to 0 ETH and call it the Demon Auction, we feel it’s going to be bad-ass and it’s kind of going into uncharted territory where we can’t tell how the market will react but it somehow make sense for us. So the partners said that we would only do it if we have at least 66,666 Twitter followers and when we finally hit it yesterday (April 15th) everyone we was like “f*ck it, let’s do the demon auction!”.

Some of you might ask: Why the starting price of 0,6 ETH? Why don’t you make it, say, 0.3 ETH like many other projects are doing recently? That is the thing. First, it’s about staying in the 666 narrative and if people think our price is at 0,3 ETH they can always enter at that price anyway. Second, we truly believe that EDC has done something many others haven’t. Not to diss other projects, we believe they’ll make something meaningful and we even invested in some of them. But, demons, we delivered. People are wearing our clothes. Mau Lencinas’ work has been populating Pinterest and Tumblr for years and became an inspiration for many. We’ve been featured on HYPEBEAST and participated on ComplexCon. EDC started way early and people are now dancing to our music!

All we wanted to say is that there’s a HUGE gap between promises and delivery and we believe we all can agree on that. If a team with a track record is being valued at the same or lower price based on promises and hype, we believe that’s a demise to the space. And let us tell you why we believe in our value as a company:

All of our 6,666 hand drawn assets by the legendary illustrator of Easy Demons Club will be yours to have. Each distinctive piece has been crafted with quality in mind for our collectors.

Future exciting drop phases have been planned by the EDC team, we assure you we stick to our promise of “dope shit only”, we hold ourselves to the highest standard.
Our clothing drops will be designed by Mau Lencinas himself, and we have very exciting collabs with the best designers of fashion and streetwear fashion planned for EDC.
EDC will embark on a world tour to well known exhibitions and in selected cities to greet our club members and continue to promote the brand. We strive to be a global franchise.
One of our goals is to build our first Bali Flagship Experience Store that will become the heart of the brand. It’s a lifestyle compound that is a mix of retail shop, speakeasy bar, tattoo parlor, NFT Gallery and other experiences. We think it’s going to be awesome for EDC brand and we can’t wait to be finally able to build it and invite you demons to your new home.
Our long term vision for the brand is to create new sources of revenue for the company IRL and WEB3 through fashion, toys, music and more, a percentage of these profits will be placed back into the community funds to benefit the club in various ways. Either through distribution of tokens, marketing, or other beneficial ways for the community to thrive.

By now we hope you know it’s going to be a wild ride ahead, and with Demon Auction it doesn’t matter what we believe, you can mint at the price that YOU believe. And if somehow you think we’re worth 0… you’re welcome to try to mint for free!

Demon List Minting Information

For 4000 of you with Demon Lists, the price will be, you guessed it right, 60% of the last Demon Auction price. For example if it ends at 0.1 ETH your minting price will be 0.06 ETH. If the auction ends at 0 ETH, you will mint for free. Crazy, huh?

If the Demon List is not fully minted out, we enter Phase 3 in which we will raffle the remaining supply for the existing holders, Demon-Listed and Half Demons in Discord. The price for this mint will be the same as the Demon List price.

Conclusion

Thank you for making it this far, demons. We believe this is only the beginning of EDC transformation to a web3 brand we envisioned and we are proud to let you participate in our future and have a say on how big of a company we should be. Are we a 0.6 ETH company? Or we are a 0 ETH company? Both will have a very different playbook and probably result in a different kind of company, but we are ready to build either way.
