It is not uncommon to see the populace think and perhaps believe that herpes is the worst STI ever one could contract. It is a viral disease and on the increase. Many persons are afraid of this STI, undermining the dangers posed by other STIs. Therefore, it is essential to re-orient your mindset and accept the fact that having herpes is not the worst scenario of STIs.

Take your mind back a little, you would uncover that before the steady increase in the number of people living with herpes lately, there has been the existence of dreadful STIs which never had any cure or any means of alleviation. Undoubtedly, the herpes virus disease is misunderstood by so many people, some say it’s the worst STI, do you know that long-lasted gonorrhea can resist antibiotic therapy?

A survey by the U.S Centres for Disease has it that STDs is on the increase, with about 19 million new cases every year. A patient with the genital herpes virus can still conceive and deliver a child, suffice it to be that people living with the herpes virus can have their fertility intact. Unlike some other STIs, where you are faced with fertility issues and the infection affects your fertility, herpes doesn’t affect your fertility.

Genital herpes caused by the herpes virus when placed on proper antiviral you can live and experience shortened and reduced outbreaks. A herpes patient that experiences reduced outbreaks is way better and cannot be measured with a patient with another STI. Of course, the virus is bound to live in your body system throughout your life once contracted, but it can be greatly and easily managed, while you notice that the rate of outbreaks you normally experience a decline over time with a reduced spreading potential.

The dreadful emphasis placed on herpes has made it appear the way we see it today, people are scared because of the harm they think herpes will spell on their relationship. With the huge misunderstanding of the disease makes it appear as the worst STI. This impression is not right; it has made it difficult for one to tell one’s partner when one has the virus, whereas, herpes patients should not enjoy relationship a bit below what it should be.

According to a research, the much emphasis placed on the herpes was not until the drug marketing campaign between 1970’s and 1980’s. This campaign convinced the mass that having the herpes virus is an enormous one, and this has seemed to be on the go with the stigmatization of people living with this virus, thereby trying to neglect other most dreaded STDs.

Some people voiced out their mind and stated the STI they are most afraid of in a survey conducted. This survey shows that an average rational being who knows about herpes to an extent wouldn’t deem it as the most dreaded STI. Roman Gonzalz said that he believes the Chlamydia is the scariest, as people who have it showed no symptom and can easily be transmitted sexually. The fact that one may have the disease and not know makes it dreadful. Noah Donoff in the survey aired his view on the scariest STI. He said that despite the fact that every STI can be managed effectively, he still places HIV as the most afraid, as it comes with stigmatization which virtually everyone wouldn’t want to compromise. In a more generalized tone, most people who are enlightened about the herpes virus would rather go for it than so many other STIs.

Although herpes is on the increase, the patients can still live a stigma-free life as this is not the worst STI. The herpes patients, when placed on apt therapy, can live a good life, this also underscores the fact that herpes is an STI people shouldn’t fear as they do currently.
