EBC Foundation promotes the adoption of blockchain by providing technology which allows all travelers to receive their full tax refunds instantly and to use EBCoin as a digital currency. We have had another successful week, as we are continuing to improve our EBCoin wallet and further develop our business.

Business Update
About a year after EBCoin’s ICO Public Sale, EBC Foundation has made many significant improvements in terms of business and is moving toward the actual use part of the blockchain industry. The EBC Foundation held a demo-day prior to the tax refund project with Jeju Island. This demonstration provided an opportunity to show a real-life application.
The purpose of the demonstration was to demonstrate EBC Wallet’s functions to officials from the Jeju Future Strategy Agency and to review how to proceed in the future, as well as what is needed for further development. EBC Wallet, based on Hyperledger Fabric, showed the process of issuing, verifying, and exporting refunded vouchers when purchasing items, In addition, the application demonstrated the ability to register passports and finding the location of the affiliated store that does Tax refund.
“The demo-version is implemented as Hyperledger Fabric, but the actual release version will be implemented as a private blockchain with idleness,” said Yang Woo-suk, CEO of Chain Refund.
The Jeju Future Strategy Agency said it aims to designate a blockchain-free zone prepared by the Special District Council for Regulatory Chains and that it wants the EBC Foundation’s Tax Fund service to participate.
As soon as the pilot operation development is completed, EBC Foundation will demonstrate to the Governor of Jeju and hold a press tour together.
Chinese multinational conglomerate company ‘Tencent’ has an MOU with Jeju and the EBC Foundation will look into possible partnership opportunities with Tencent in the near future.
“Jeju will become a participating company if Jeju Island is designated as a special zone for blockchain,” said Han Seok-kyung, an EBC Foundation COO.
