The Poem That Trump Supporters Will Recite if Trump Wins*
Disclaimer: I wrote the following story during the 2016 election cycle. This story was written at a time when conventional political wisdom stated that an inarticulate and impolitic businessman with no political experience and multiple fraud and sexual assault allegations pending against him could not possible best a former First Lady/former United States Senator/former Secretary of State in a presidential race — and the tone of the piece reflects that.
Aside from the occasional corrections to spelling/grammatical/syntax/factual errors, the story you are about to read is in its original form.
First, Trump filed for bankruptcy multiple times — and I did not speak out —
Because he didn’t lose any of my money
Then, Trump defrauded people at Trump U — and I did not speak out —
Because I never attended Trump U
Then Trump unfairly criticized the Pope and I did not speak out —
Because I am not Catholic
Then, Trump said that John McCain was not a war hero — and I did not speak out —
Because I am not a veteran
Then, Trump threatened to deport the Mexicans — and I did not speak out —
Because I was not a Mexican
Then Trump threatened to ban the Muslims, and I did not speak
Out —
Because I was not a Muslim
Then Trump mocked a disabled reporter and I did not speak out —
Because I am not disabled
Then Trump made many misogynistic statements and I did not speak out —
Because I am not a woman
Then Trump disparaged the Black Lives Matter movement and I did not speak out —
Because I am not black
Then Trump threatened to repeal gay marriage and I did not speak out —
Because I am not gay
Then Trump insulted the Khan family and I did not speak out —
Because I haven’t lost my child
Then Trump turned on me — and there was no one left to speak
for me
