The Problem of Immortality, can it be solved?

This is the most ancient problem in evolutionary history with the most sought after solution of all time, but has the answer been provided for us already by the gods?
The processes of life as governed by nature have always followed the easiest path, like a rain drop assuming a spherical shape or water flowing through valleys rather than excavating mountains, and thus taking the path of least resistance. Evolution in the case of humans took the easiest path by favoring diversification and passing on of the essence of life (our genes) from one generation to another instead of the more difficult process of revitalizing the individual orgasms for an endless cycle of rejuvenation of their genetic material, as we can see in what some have termed the “immortal amoeba” which divides through asexual reproduction favoring mitosis (one of two types of cell division through which genes are replicated to form identical cells indifferent from one another “clones”)
However, it has been common knowledge for a long time that one particular multicellular cell-line is immortal. “Hela cells” are considered immortal in all sense of the word but they only occurred as a result of cell division gone “haywire” within their host/owner as they were isolated from cancerous tissue. We also know that some sea organisms have extensively long lives up to hundreds of years, but they reproduce very sparingly. Could it be that evolution sacrificed longevity for sexual reproduction/cell division by meiosis?
As humans we like to take a shot at solving difficult problems and the case of death is the most “notorious” one. Some even say we might have resigned in our effort towards finding a solution, so much so that we have made our peace with it, but man has sought to cheat death since ancient times as the epic of Gilgamesh of the ancient Sumerian codex confirms, yet without success although we are now in the age where such a quest is within our reach, we must first answer two important questions because in their solution lies the answer to immortality, the first is
How do we control mitotic cell division/growth gone “haywire” and in so doing find the cure to all types of cancers.
The second is
How do we reverse engineer stems cells which are key in amphibian/reptilian regeneration of amputated appendages, so we can regrow defective organs within us.
We recently decoded the human genome and have successfully edited out hereditary diseases off embryos by deleting defective parts of their genome. However the path to immortality might lie in suspension of meiotic cell division and diversification resulting from random mutations. Although caused by a myriad of factors of which one is solar UV radiation directly related to aging of cells in humans, added the fact that the longest living organisms reside at the sea floor never seeing sunlight. I would like to deduce from the above that in finding a solution to immortality we might need to do the following;
1) Freeze further maturation before puberty thus preventing reproduction as we now know it
2) Reproduce through cloning as it favors mitotic division which is key in longevity as evidenced by the “immortal amoeba” and the infamous “Hela cell line”
3) Retire to environments without solar UV radiation which pose disastrous effects to our genes and has been linked to aging in animal cells, we therefore might need to retire into our own proverbial coffins like Dracula.
