Choosing a Donut

NaPoWriMo #3

This one is pure silliness… and it makes me want a donut.

Choosing a Donut

No surprises
You won’t be shocked
I will eat
Any donut
You offer me
Raised glazed
Chocolate frosted
Apple fritter
Cruller or twist
Cinnamon or jelly filled
Flavored or plain
Cake donuts?
They’re not my fave
Still I’ll eat one
If that’s all there is

But if I get to choose
Perusing the full spectrum
Of donutty goodness
I will always select
A stretched and beautiful
Chocolate eclair
(Some call it a Long John)
Injected with real custard
(Not disgusting pastry cream)
I will take it
Lift it to my lips
And I will savor
Every
Delectable
Bite

Writing to make myself uncomfortable--comfort is overrated. Finding a new version of myself. Unshackling creativity. Hoping for the best.
