💬AI + DePIN has become one of the hot narratives in this bull market. Some believe that the narrative of DePIN+AI is unrealistic, while others believe that it is inherently integrated. What’s your opinion on these two viewpoints?
🎙️Firstly, for those who consider the AI + DePIN narrative as unrealistic, they may have noticed that some projects are exaggerated in concept and lack practical feasibility. They are concerned that this narrative may be mere hype, lacking genuine technical support and business applications.
However, as a practitioner of this pace, we believed that the development of AI technology has demonstrated immense potential across various industries, while DePIN is designed to promote the efficient and fair utilization of infrastructure. AI can provide more intelligent and personalized services and support for DePIN, while DePIN also offers AI broader data sources and application scenarios.
The viewpoint that AI and DePIN are inherently integrated is theoretically convincing, and some practical projects have already succeeded in this regard. We hope Ec³ can also be one of them ASAP.
💬 Recently, there has been an abundance of projects in the AI+DePIN pace. Can you share any trends they have observed about that?
🎙️AI acts as a copilot, an auxiliary tool, so I believe it can be almost seamlessly integrated with any business track. From what I know, there are many projects doing well in the AI+Searching or AI+Indexing paces and have also received investments. This is because ChatGPT or Chinese AIGC Chatbots like Kimi Chat serve as the most approachable touchpoint for what we call the pan-consumer users when it comes to the grand term “AI.”
Considering the current phenomenon of tech giants in China rushing to develop conversational AI, this trend is currently hot. How does conversational AIGC projects relate to AI+DePIN? Don’t forget the terrifying energy consumption behind every search (consumption) and every model training. Therefore, DePIN’s entry into this market is imperative, whether it’s from the perspective of ESG or from the angles of anti-monopoly and decentralization. The continuous and relentless energy consumption by a single giant is a very serious consequence.
Our current entry point is that DePIN projects generally designed AI into their projects. For example, we implant AI agents into Ec³ APP to help users automatically generate the most efficient or economically profitable electricity consumption plan based on historical electricity usage data, providing users with personalized smart guidance. When the user amount reaches a certain level, there is actually a massive amount of real electricity usage data that can be fed back into various markets, including AI models and search engines. “Give us a lever and we’ll move the earth.” We hope to impact some of the trends from the smallest entry point, which is also one of the original intentions of Energy Cube.
💬 Traditional enterprises/VCs are starting to enter the AI+DePIN space. How do you think projects should collaborate with traditional enterprises to achieve a greater effect?
🎙️There must be people who understand both Web2 and Web3 at the same time. Many bosses of traditional enterprises, who have large businesses and deal with hardware and electronic components, may not fully grasp the concept of Web3. On the other hand, Web3-native insiders may be more self-assured and unwilling to understand and apply the intricacies of Web2. In fact, method itself doesn’t matter; Web3 is not the goal but a term that emerged during the evolution. Projects must reach a consensus with suppliers and investors. Even if there are differences during the process, at least the ultimate goal is consistent. And the founding team must know not only the on-chain operations but also understand the problems that may arise in the actual production and delivery process of the physical supply chain and the problems that may be encountered in offline sales. There are higher requirements for the qualities of the founding team in various aspects, especially for DePIN, which is generally more complicated than DeFi.
💬 Regarding the choice of the underlying public chain for DePIN, do our guests prefer the native DePIN public chain represented by peaq or the full-ecosystem public chain represented by Solana?
🎙️Because we are based on Peaq, we are a bit more familiar with Peaq. Firstly, the feedback from the primary market on Peaq is positive, and I think real investments are the most persuasive.
The development and construction of DePIN projects on Peaq are dev-friendly, as Peaq can directly provide developers with a wide range of ready-to-use backend functions, equip DePIN and dApp with necessary core functions, including autonomous machine ID, role-based access control, seamless machine payment processing, machine data storage, machine NFTs, data indexing, autonomous AI agents, and more. We prefer the development based on the native DePIN public chain, so we choose to build on Peaq. In the future, expansion can be carried out through multi-chain deployment, maximizing the utilization of resources from all parties and achieving a win-win result for our project and the public chain ecosystem.
