Quentin, Good to meet you. By the way, I have been a World Bank short-term consultant since 1990 int he energy sector, with a focus on rural electrification and renewable energy. Currently, I do have an ongoing World Bank assignment. My main role has been up-front design of innovative projects. During the course of this work, I have had to explain my ideas to a variety of people — which led me to find simple explanations.

I also have consulting work with various government agencies in the U.S. Again, working with people from various disciplines, and explaining my ideas (For example, I had proposed “realtime” pricing — meaning price varies according to the time of day in Washington, DC in 1988, when it was a truly novel idea) to various people.

In 2007, I went back to teaching - but not to teach mathematical courses (as in my early years). Instead, I have been teaching econ courses to MA students in departments other than Econ, mainly students in the School for International Studies. A deliberate choice, which has helped me get away from jargon.

I am now planning to write a book with a title such as Economics and Public Policy, which will lay out the economics behind major public policy issues. I will post draft chapters here. Hope you will read them and comment on them.
