Thanks for this — I’ve always wanted to ask the average Nigerian parent this: “After all the children you’ve pushed into medicine and law and engineering, how fares the country? Do you now have universal health care and world class hospitals? No? What about excellent infrastructure? No? What about a system that has rooted out corruption through the rule of law? No? And yet you still feel the need to have a doctor, engineer or lawyer in your household? For what? Apparently, bragging rights alone.” SMH. And you wonder why the country remains underdeveloped despite all of its resources.
